TPU 90A class is a flexible thermoplastic polyurethane. Makers sell it for automotive dust covers, bellows, flexible mounts, cable management and prosthetic uses. Printed flat it breaks at > 650 % elongation, and across the layers it keeps 81 % of its flat tensile strength. On the H2C makers advise drying it and not annealing it.

Partly documented Tensile strength (Z) and price rest on 2 products each, tensile modulus (XY) on 3 products and notched Charpy impact is not published. Each figure is the median of the products that publish it comparably, and beside it the middle half of them; a value on a test bar no document describes as printed, or with no stated test load, is set apart, except a heat deflection of a plastic that cannot crystallise, which its glass transition sets, unless its document points to a moulded or resin bar. Products with an added filler or additive are shown but kept out of the medians.

Among the materials

Against TPU-CF, TPU 90A class is 60 % less expensive. Against TPU 95A class, TPU 90A class is 80 % less stiff, 54 % weaker across the layers and 18 % weaker flat. Among the materials, TPU 90A class has a high elongation at break (XY) and a low tensile modulus (XY), tensile strength (XY) and tensile strength (Z): each is in the top or bottom quarter of the materials that publish it. Its density and price sit in the middle half.

Against its alternatives, TPU 90A class has the lowest tensile modulus

Makers rarely give the concentration, temperature or duration: treat them as indications, not design data. Each product's statements are on its card.

Resin reference data (for plain TPU, where no maker of these products speaks): it is not resistant to hot water, moisture vapour, tropical climate (polyester-based TPU); it resists hot water, moisture vapour, tropical climate (polyether-based TPU). Fillers, pigments and printing change this, so it does not stand for these products.
