PC-GF is glass-fibre-filled polycarbonate. Makers sell it for technical applications that need stiffness and heat resistance. Its glass transition is 142 °C, and makers warn that polycarbonate is highly hygroscopic, prone to stress cracking and notch sensitive. On the H2C it prints at 290–320 °C, and makers recommend a hardened steel nozzle against the abrasive glass and drying before printing.

Among the materials

Against PC, PC-GF is 55 % weaker across the layers and 37 % weaker flat. Against PC-ABS, PC-GF is 22 % weaker across the layers and 9 % weaker flat. Among the materials, PC-GF has a low tensile strength (Z) and price: both are in the lowest quarter of the materials that publish them. The rest of its key properties sit in the middle half.

Against its alternatives, PC-GF has the lowest tensile strength and tensile strength (Z)

Mechanical properties

Printed flat (XY), PC-GF typically reaches a tensile strength of 38 MPa at a modulus of 2.67 GPa, and breaks at 5.95 % elongation. In bending, its flexural strength is typically 62.7 MPa at a flexural modulus of 2.4 GPa.
